My wife and I went to the restaurant for our 41st anniversary. I had heard about this restaurant for years as the owners cousin is a client of mine and he has raved about his cousins restaurant. He did not exaggerate. This was an amazing dining experience and we will return again the next time we are in Rome.

This is a very old fashioned elegant restaurant located in Piazza Farnese, scrisse the palace of the aristocratic Farnese family and now the French Embassy. This restaurant is a Roman institution- the sort of place you go to celebrate your retirement, an engagement, a silver/gold anniversary or your mom's 80th birthday. So expect the prices to reflect that. The service is very attentive, verging on the obsequious. Our waiter was constantly hovering over us. If you like old school elegance, with silver chargers under your plate, this place is for you. Took my mom here for her birthday - I think she enjoyed it more than I did. The presentation is elegant and the cuisine is quite refined and the wine list is extensive yet reasonable. It was on my bucket list but mostly glad to treat my mom to a lovely meal.

Amazing dinner. We arrived at 1120pm on Monday night and they still were able to serve us. The sommelier was able to recommend complimentary wines for our meal as well as our waiter was super helpful. We had the lamb, sea bass, lobster bisque, gnocchi with rosemary, creme brulee and ice cream. Everything was great. I was too tired to take pictures of the food but here is the dessert.

A cute location on a small piazza near the French embassy. We were warmly greeted and escorted to a small dining area over looking the piazza. The setting was very formal and well done. We were asked if we wanted menus in Italian or English. Our lead server's English was excellent. The wine list was extensive and good with fair prices. There were 3 of us and we all had something different and all was outstanding. The decor, service, and food were all outstanding. I can't understand why it doesn't have a Michelin star/s.

This was a truly amazing experience. Mostly locals there, celebrating special occasions. The service was impeccable, and the food was amazing. There was a whole fish with artichokes and potatoes that the people next to us had ordered. We ordered that, amazing! The eggplant appetizer was so good we ordered a second one. And the soufflé with chocolate sauce was so good I want to go back again and again. Even though this was old world service, I felt very welcomed and well cared for. Really top notch.

You can't beat the setting; we only stopped for cocktails but managed to make it a light supper as the complimentary hors d'oeuvres "fit the bill". The cocktails were perfect as was the setting, being seated on the piazza diagonally across from the Palazzo Farnese (now the Embassy of France), a very classy location. It was not inexpensive but well worth it. We were dressed smartly ("business-casual") as we were staying in the Via Giulia neighborhood.

Service is very attentive but not over bearing. Food was incredible. We had Chateaubriand, and it was wonderful. Definitely recommend.

Camponeschi is an expensive and very nice restaurant.  Italians arrived in coat and tie, some "out of it" Americans in shorts and team jerseys were treated respectfully (but looked like fools), we wore nice pants and shirts, dresses, and fit in.  I've been to Camponeschi 5 or 6 times over the years, and over time the service has actually gotten better.  The imperious head waiter who used to ostentatiously boss the waiters was not there on his visit.  A really fun night, on a quiet historic square dominated by the French embassy in the old Farnese palace. The food is top notch delicious.  Get the whole Branzino (Mediterranean sea bass, 12-14" long) if it is available, the pastas are amazing.  The clams and mussel sauté was really great.   Nice complementary fruit and cookies arrived on this visit, when we declined desert. One of my favorite restaurants in the world.
